Gullfoss Waterfalls which means Golden Waterfall in Icelandic was privately owned in the past by Tómas Tómasson and Halldór Halldórsson. Even though it’s not the highest waterfall it has a very high flow rate (140m2 of water per second), which in the past sparked discussion of using it to generate electricity. Good for us the Icelandic state bought it and now it’s under protection 😏⠀
