The city walls of Constantinople, now known as Istanbul, were built by the roman Emperor Constantin the Great in the 4th century and are the last great fortification system of antiquity with up to 12m height, over 14km of length and the famous double line of Theodosian Walls. Being one of the most elaborate systems ever built it protected the city from over 30 Sieges from Persians, Arabs, Russian, Bulgars and many others until 29 of May in 1453 when the city fell after a six-week siege by the Ottoman forces (Turkish Empire). The walls are part of the Unesco World Heritage now. So, what do you think, the walls on the picture are part of the city walls or not?
