Tamo CrossOn the way to the Cotopaxi Volcano we were driving through this landscape that is so different from the green mountain region around Baños or the Amazonian Forrest further down. But it has something unique to offer: Wild Horses. Around 200 horses live in the Cotopaxi National Park with their ancient bloodlines mainly being Andalusian and Berber races. Basically these are horses that run away after the Spanish conquistadors brought them to south america. They are called párameros because they live and thrive on the high, desert-like tundra which is called the paramo. There are several herds, each with a lead stallion and it is possible to see young stallions testing their prowess against one another when driving through the region 🐎📸⠀
