On my last visit to Italy I also visited the volcano that you can see here very peacefully, (even though it’s still active) and the city of Pompeii. I thought a couple of hours would be sufficient to explore the city ruins, but if I suggest that you reserve the whole day. There is just so much to see and some parts of the city are not yet digged out from over 6m of ashes and volcanic debris that covered Pompeii in the year 79 AD. Did you know that the wind that was blowing in a northwesterly direction that day was the reason for the high number of casualties? Researcher suggests, it should have been blowing from the southwest instead which would have blown away the ashes and debris from the city… So do you know what this mountain, which is ranked as europe’s most dangerous volcano, is called ? 🤔
