Istanbul is situated on both sides, Asia and Europe, making it truly the gateway between 2 continents and cultures, european and oriental. It’s vibrant mix of cultures can best be felt when roaming the many markets and streets in the old town and when going down to the sea where many people are still using ferries to cross from one side to the other. Since my last visit a tunnel has been completed, which is 5400m long and running at over 100m below sea level ! When visiting I still prefer to use a ferry though… No other place where you can feel this magic atmosphere, get amazed by the views, the smell of the sea and hear the sounds of the busy life of the city. So, do you know what other names Istanbul was called?
