When roaming the Temples in Angkor Wat I asked myself why buildings, walls and bridges are ornamented with gigantic Cobra Snakes that have multiple heads. In many South and Southeast Asian cultures they have significance. In Hinduism for example they are the guardians of treasure and in Buddhism the Serpent King Mucalinda is considered the protector of the Buddha. Curious fact: In Cambodian Temples you will find odd- and even headed Cobras. The first symbolising the Male and the latter Female Energy. How many heads do you think the one on this picture has? •
