This month I went to the Maldives and I confirm that it is as beautiful as you have imagined it. However some of you wrote me that I should not go there, even boycott the country due to the political and human rights issues it has suffered for 30 years. I believe however that isolation is not a solution. Leaving a whole country alone is not going to help to change anything. Traveling, interacting, humbly exchanging positions and making aware are in my eyes much better means of contributing to positive change. After all, we are all foreigners when we are not at home. That being said since end of 2018 a new president has been elected who has started to bring about a lot of change, working on human rights, anti-corruption and ecology. But we have our responsibility, too, which is why I say: Don’t be a tourist, be a traveler. Let me know what you think
