When the École française d’Extrême-Orient started the restoration work in Angkor they decided to leave one temple largely as it had been found: Ta Prohm. The way the Jungle had taken over and integrated with the ancient temple looked so atmospheric that they wanted to preserve this. UNESCO inscribed Ta Prohm on the World Heritage List in 1992. And since it has become the most visited complex in Angkor. Even more after The Movie Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie, which filmed a scene in the location.
